Hubungan Asupan Protein, Zat Besi, dan Bioavailabilitas Zat Besi terhadap Status Anemia Ibu Hamil di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Kota Serang

Iron deficiency anemia is one of the causes of bleeding risk in pregnant women caused by low iron intake. The results of the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey showed that 3 out of 10 pregnant women experience anemia (27.7%). During pregnancy, the need for iron increases significantly to support the growth of the fetus and placenta. However, not all iron consumed is absorbed by the body. This study aims to determine the relationship between protein and iron nutrient intake, as well as iron bioavailability, and anemia in pregnant women. The research design was cross-sectional and sampling was carried out using the purposive sampling method. The number of samples in this study was 81 pregnant women in the work area of the Serang City Health Center. The data collected in the study were respondent characteristics data, intake data, and anemia status data. The data was analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test to see the relationship.. The results showed that 34.57% of pregnant women experienced anemia, low protein intake (90.12%), low iron intake (91.36%), and low iron absorption (bioavailability) (88.89%). The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between iron intake and anemia status of pregnant women (p=0.044), but there is no relationship between protein intake and iron bioavailability with anemia status (p=0.549 dan p=0.509). Therefore, it is necessary to provide education regarding the importance of iron intake for pregnant women, which is delivered directly by health workers at the Community Health Center.
