Abstract

The Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease that occurs either when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces. The incidence of Type 2 Diabetes is often associated with anthropometric measures of a person such as Body Mass Index (BMI), Arm Circumference (LILA) and Abdominal Circumference (LP). This study aims to determine the determinants of type 2 DM from anthropometric size aspects such as the size of BMI, LILA and LP. This study used a case control study design. The population in this study were all patients who checked themselves and treated at the Wawotobi Public Health Center, Konawe Regency in the period January to August 2020. The sample in this study was 120 samples (60 cases and 60 controls) which were taken using simple random sampling technique. The results showed that the anthropometric measure as a determinant of the incidence of Type 2 diabetes, namely BMI has a P-value = 0,003, OR = 3,237 (CI 95% 1,529-6,853, Upper Arm Circumference with P-value = 0.001, OR = 3.923 (CI 95 % 1,806-8,524), and Abdominal Circumference with P-value = 0.001, OR = 5.675 (95% CI 2.560-12.580). Abdominal Circumference (LP) is a determinant of the incidence of Type 2 diabetes in patients who seek treatment at the General Clinic of Wawotobi Health Center, Konawe District.
