Post-Publication Discussion
Post-Publication Discussion
Preventif: Jurnal Kesehatan Masyarakat welcomes constructive discussion of published articles. Comments, questions, and scholarly criticism help clarify findings, identify limitations, and support the integrity of the scientific record.
-
Scope of Discussion
Readers may submit comments concerning:
• Research methods, statistical analyses, or interpretation.
• Findings that require clarification.
• Relevant evidence that may affect the article’s conclusions.
• Implications for public health research, policy, or practice.
• Possible errors or concerns about research integrity.
Differences in scientific interpretation are welcome when supported by clear reasoning and relevant evidence.
-
How to Submit a Comment
Comments should be sent to:
Email: preventifjournal.fkm@gmail.com
Suggested email subject: Post-Publication Discussion – Article Title or DOI
Submissions should include:
• The commenter’s full name, affiliation where applicable, and contact email.
• The title and DOI or URL of the article being discussed.
• A clear explanation of the issue.
• Supporting references or documents, where appropriate.
• A declaration of relevant conflicts of interest.
Comments should be concise, respectful, and focused on the scientific content. Authors of comments are responsible for their accuracy and originality.
-
Editorial Assessment
The editorial team will assess comments for relevance, clarity, supporting evidence, and potential contribution to scientific discussion. Additional clarification, revision, or independent expert assessment may be requested.
Personal attacks, discriminatory language, unsupported accusations, promotional material, and disclosure of confidential participant information are unacceptable.
Submitting a comment does not guarantee publication. The journal may address minor questions through correspondence without publishing a formal discussion.
-
Author Responses
When a comment raises a substantive issue, the editor will normally invite the article’s authors to respond. Authors should address the specific points raised and provide supporting explanations or evidence.
A response deadline will be communicated by the editor. An author’s decision not to respond does not automatically prevent publication of a scientifically justified comment.
Comments and author responses are subject to editorial assessment and may be returned for revision.
-
Publication of Discussions
Comments selected for publication may appear as correspondence or another clearly identified discussion item. The original article will be identified, and links between the article, comment, and response will be provided where technically available.
Published comments and responses will identify their authors and disclose relevant conflicts of interest. The journal may edit material for clarity, length, and presentation, with substantive changes agreed with the contributor.
-
Corrections and Research Integrity Concerns
Scientific disagreement alone does not establish an error or misconduct. When a discussion identifies a possible error, the editor will assess whether clarification or a formal correction is necessary.
Concerns about the reliability or integrity of an article will be handled through the journal’s research misconduct procedures. An expression of concern or retraction may be considered where justified by the evidence.
Anonymous reports containing specific, verifiable integrity concerns may be assessed confidentially, even when they are unsuitable for publication as signed correspondence.
-
Timing and Continuing Discussion
Readers may raise substantive concerns regardless of an article’s publication date. Editorial priority will depend on the significance of the issue and the available evidence.
The editor may conclude a published exchange when the principal issues have been adequately addressed. New evidence or unresolved integrity concerns may justify further assessment.
-
Independent Handling
Editors with a conflict of interest must not control the assessment of a comment or response. Discussions involving an editor’s own article will be assigned to an uninvolved editor or referred to the publisher for independent handling.
