About the Journal

Preventif: Jurnal Kesehatan Masyarakat is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal owned and published by Universitas Tadulako and managed by the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Tadulako, Palu, Indonesia.

The journal publishes research and evidence syntheses that contribute to public health knowledge, policy, and practice. It welcomes submissions from researchers, academics, health practitioners, and policymakers in Indonesia and internationally.

Objectives

The journal aims to disseminate scientific evidence that informs disease prevention, health promotion, community health programs, and improvements in health systems. It provides a forum for examining public health challenges, evaluating interventions, and identifying priorities for research and practice.

Submissions should present a clear scientific contribution, use appropriate methods, and explain the relevance of their findings to population health.

Focus and Scope

The journal covers the following areas:

  1. Health Administration and Policy

Health systems, health service management, health policy analysis, health economics and financing, and evaluation of public health programs and services.

  1. Epidemiology

The distribution and determinants of communicable and noncommunicable diseases, surveillance, risk factor assessment, and disease prevention and control.

  1. Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences

Health education, health literacy, health communication, community empowerment, and behavioral interventions.

  1. Environmental Health

Water and sanitation, food safety, waste management, environmental exposures, and environmental health risk assessment.

  1. Occupational Health and Safety

Occupational hazards, workplace exposures, ergonomics, occupational diseases and injuries, and interventions to protect workers’ health.

  1. Reproductive, Maternal, and Child Health

Reproductive and sexual health, maternal and child health, adolescent health, family planning, and access to related services.

  1. Biostatistics and Population Health

Statistical methods applied to public health, demography, population dynamics, and analysis of population health data.

  1. Community Nutrition

Nutritional assessment, dietary practices, food and nutrition security, maternal and child nutrition, and community-based nutrition policies and interventions.

Studies conducted in clinical, laboratory, or institutional settings should explain their relevance to public health.

Manuscript Types

The journal considers:

• Original Research Articles.
• Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses.
• Scoping Reviews.
• Narrative Reviews.

Each submission must follow the requirements for its manuscript type, the Author Guidelines, and the applicable journal template.

Publication Schedule

Preventif: Jurnal Kesehatan Masyarakat publishes three issues annually, in April, August, and December.

Peer Review

Manuscripts undergo initial editorial screening for scope, originality, methodological quality, reporting completeness, and ethical compliance.

Eligible research and review manuscripts undergo single-blind peer review by at least two reviewers before acceptance. Reviewers know the authors’ identities, while reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors.

The editorial team makes publication decisions based on the manuscript, reviewer assessments, and author responses. Publication fees do not determine acceptance.

Open Access

Published articles are freely available online without subscription fees or an embargo period. Readers may read and download full-text articles without charge.

Sharing, adaptation, and other reuse must comply with the license applicable to each article. Copyright and licensing details are provided in the journal’s License & Copyright policy.

Publication Ethics

The journal requires accurate reporting, appropriate recognition of contributions, disclosure of relevant interests, and compliance with applicable research ethics requirements.

Concerns about submitted or published work are assessed through the journal’s research misconduct procedures. Readers may submit scholarly comments or report errors after publication. Corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions may be issued where justified.
